At a time when my schedule is filled with family sessions, prepping for clients’ Christmas cards and gifts, it was so much fun to throw a senior portrait session in the mix! I was thrilled when Morgan emailed me about her senior portraits and had been looking forward to our meeting. We were blessed with a beautiful afternoon and had a great time shooting these all over downtown Acworth.

We were having so much fun that we kept shooting until the sun set… which gave me a chance to try out some night shots for a session ~ something new for me! I love how they turned out… something fun & different for senior portraits.

Morgan, thanks so much for a great session! I hope you & your family will enjoy a few sneak peeks for now… more the come very soon!

Wow. Kristina was a blast to photograph. You know that initial awkwardness that a person can sometimes feel at the beginning of a session when they’re not yet 100% comfortable in front of the camera? Yeah, Kristina didn’t have that at all. Not for one second. She was so easy to move around & I found myself kind of sitting back & letting her do her thing more than instructing her on ways to move around.

It also didn’t hurt that we had a beautiful night and were shooting around the beautiful Marietta Square AND Kristina knew all the neatest spots to go. Seriously. I felt totally spoiled.

Many many thanks to Kristina & her sweet mom, Tracy, for a wonderful session! I hope you guys will enjoy these sneak peeks for now… more to come soon!

Stephanie was so easy to work with… which is an especially good thing when you’re working with Atlanta’s afternoon summer heat & mosquitoes. She was a trooper and you never would’ve known she was literally being eaten alive during our session! Gotta love the south this time of year!

Stephanie recently began her senior year of high school and is a very talented pianist. I knew something was up when I walked into the family’s piano room and saw awards and trophies all over the place. We took some really special pictures of Stephanie with her piano, which was a new one for me, but I loved it! I felt honored to be working with such a talented senior and am sure she has an exciting journey ahead of her!

Stephanie, it was wonderful to meet you and so much fun to work with you! I hope that you & your family will enjoy some sneak peeks for now… more to come very soon!

Meet Caitlin. The beautiful, gracious, warm-hearted, sweet, soon-to-be Hillgrove High School senior. She’s the girl I am proud to call my first official senior portrait rep. What is a senior portrait representative, you ask? Well, a few months back, I put out a call for students who will be seniors next year – the class of 2010 – who live in either my county or one of my county’s neighboring counties – who might be interested in a complimentary senior portrait session. In return for the session, my wish was for this student to be a living advertisement – in a way – for Karen Baker Photography… in hopes of expanding the senior portrait side of my portfolio. I wasn’t sure at the time just what I was looking for, but it always amazes me the ways God works things out. I did a photo session with Caitlin’s sister’s husband’s sister’s family. Did you get that?

Caitlin’s mom contacted me and as a chance for me to get a little more background on her daughter, she sent me Caitlin’s Facebook profile. Isn’t it funny that this truly is one of the best ways to get to know someone these days? Say what you may, but I knew the person I chose would be a reflection of my company and I wanted to choose just the right one.

Well, I couldn’t have asked for – prayed for - anyone better. After finishing looking through her FB page, I thanked God for sending Caitlin my way. Even if nothing ever comes of this little project, what a blessing to meet and work with such a beautiful girl – who has a heart for God and animals - and who certainly made my job easy as you’ll see in the sneak peeks ahead.

Mendy & Caitlin, thanks so much for the opportunity to work with you both! Megan & Jenny, thanks so much for sharing my name with your sweet families! I had a blast and hope all of you will enjoy these sneak peeks as much as I’ve enjoyed going through & choosing them!

Although I am beyond excited about this new chapter in my life and having the opportunity to do photography full-time (full-time along with being a mommy, that is!), there will always be things I miss about “my old life”. One of the main things I’ll miss is working with some really great people… and one of those really great people is my friend & former co-worker, Lisa.

So of course I was excited when she recently asked me to do a session with her girls… not only did I get to see Lisa again, but I got to work with her sweet daughters, too! Unfortunately, her oldest was at the beach and had to miss out… but that just means we get to do another one soon with all three sisters and hopefully some great mother-daughter(s) ones, too!

This time, we were mainly trying to get some last minute senior portraits for Morgan, who recently graduated from high school. Youngest sister, Emma, came along for the ride, so of course we had to get some shots of her, too! I met the girls in downtown Acworth and proceeded to drag the family all over the place, trying out different spots… some of which I’m sure they were really questioning (you want me to sit where??). I was excited to find some great new places… there’s nothing more exciting than finding an old abandoned building… with paint peeling off the walls, exposing all different kinds of interesting colors…

Morgan and Emma, I had a great time working with you both! Thanks for a great session… I can’t wait to work with all of you again soon!

taylor ~ sweet sixteen

I was excited to get to do another sweet sixteen session recently… especially since it was with Miss Taylor. I have known her for a number of years as she and my niece, Sara Kate, are best friends. As soon as I got the call from Taylor’s mom to do the session, I couldn’t wait, so I’m glad we were able to make it work last weekend!

Of course, just like it is with Sara Kate, I find it REALLY hard to believe that Taylor is now sixteen… and watching her drive away from the session was crazy. How are these girls already this old? Where did the years go… and how are they not still in elementary school like they are in my mind?

Well, even though I’m not sure how it happened that Taylor is now sixteen, one thing I do know is that she is still as sweet as ever and, as you will see in the pictures ahead, absolutely beautiful… so, per usual, a dream to photograph!

Thanks, Taylor & Teresa, for fitting our session into your busy weekend! I am so glad we were able to make it work & hope you’ll enjoy some sneak peeks for now!

class of 2010

I started getting serious about Karen Baker Photography around the end of the summer & into fall of last year… and was fortunate to have the opportunity to do a few last minute senior portrait sessions last fall. I had such a great time with all of them and would love to expand that side of my portfolio this year… starting with the class of 2010!

I am looking for girls or guys who will be seniors in high school next year – the class of 2010. In an effort to expand the senior portrait area of my portfolio, I’d like to work with some upcoming seniors at local high schools (local includes any high schools in the Paulding, Cobb, Cherokee or Bartow Counties) for their senior portraits.
