Along with my other two great sessions this past Saturday, I also had to fit in some time for a quick session with my niece… who, by the way, will be turning (gulp) SIXTEEN in 3 months. Her mom/my sister was wanting some pictures to commemorate this special time in her life. I have to admit that the entire time I was editing these I had a lump in my throat. You see, to me and to many of my close friends and probably our family in general, Sara Kate will forever be 3 years old, running around in her Disney princess gowns… and yet, here she is, a sophomore in high school & getting ready to drive. a car. on her own. (double gulp)
In all seriousness, though, she is still the same sweet, beautiful, big-hearted love of our lives… she was the first baby, the first grandchild, the only one our Daddy was alive to know & hold… and for that she will always hold a special place in our family. Every child in our family has their own special place and perfect part, just as God intended it… and that is hers. We love her so… and I am so proud to be her aunt… despite all the kicking & screaming I feel like doing over the fact that she is this age when I still feel like I should be!
